How much should an engagement ring cost
There is no right or wrong amount to spend on an engagement ring. It really comes down to your personal circumstances and how much you can afford to spend. A general guideline often quoted is that an engagement ring should cost two months salary. Our own opinion is that the engagement as a whole should come to around that figure.
Consider not only the ring but where you are going to pop the question, what you'll do afterwards etc. Your fiance to be's personal preferences also come into play. Would she really appreciate you spending a small fortune on a designer lump of rock? To summarise it is often worth considering the gains and returns from splashing out on an engagement ring. Take your current and future financial circumstances into consideration and set a realistic budget.
