Engagement ring mountings

Engagement ring mountings come in various shapes and sizes. The most famous mounting is probably the Tiffany four claw design. This is noteworthy because the mounting allows as much light to hit the diamond as possible. Mountings can also be made from a wide variety of metals. The most common is gold or a gold alloy such as rose gold which is mixed with copper to give the ring a pink look. White gold is an alloy of gold and other silver metals to produce a silver look. White gold is often plated and may need replating from time to time. Platinum is the most expensive setting due to its rarity.
